About Roselito

There exists a universal custom, perpetuated through the generations, that when father and son share the same name, someone eventually devises a way to distinguish between them. In English, it's straightforward—junior—but in Spanish, diminutives are often employed. Thus, Roselito is born. Not merely a name, but an entire declaration of intent.

Roselito is, in essence, the "offspring" of a more serious, more structured, more ambitious rosé. Yet far from being a lesser version, the diminutive here serves as a wink. It is a wine that is fresher, more direct, and easier to enjoy. A rosé without rigidity, without the need for ceremony. A wine that is understood instantly.

Behind it lies the project of Bodegas Antídoto, which, from the Sorian Ribera del Duero, has been refining a clear idea for years: to democratise excellence. Translated into the language of wine, this means creating accessible labels without losing the essentials: freshness, elegance, and that unique character imparted by the easternmost part of the appellation.

For Soria does not make it easy. Vineyards situated between 900 and 1,000 metres above sea level, a continental climate, marked contrasts. But therein lies the key. In this demanding environment, and in a mosaic of soils blending sands, limestones, and clays, wines are born with tension, finesse, and a well-defined identity.

Roselito draws directly from this philosophy. Its inspiration lies in the traditional claretes of the region, those historic wines that unashamedly mixed red and white grapes. Here, this idea is updated with a precise execution of tinto fino and albillo mayor—the latter sourced from very old vines—that contribute texture and depth.

The production follows the same logic of well-understood simplicity. Direct pressing, fermentation in stainless steel, and a brief ageing on fine lees for about 3 months. No artifice. No embellishment. Only what is necessary to preserve what matters: the fruit, the freshness, and the expression of the vineyard.

And indeed, the vineyard once again takes centre stage. Small plots scattered across various villages in Soria, many over half a century old, cultivated under ecological criteria and closely monitored by the technical team led by David Hernando. A meticulous endeavour that ensures each bottle makes sense from its origin.

The result is a rosé that breaks the mould without making noise. It does not seek to resemble anything else, nor to follow trends. It is light yet characterful, fresh yet profound, accessible yet far from simple. In short, a wine that demonstrates that tradition, when well understood, does not weigh one down, but adapts, evolves, and—as in this case—is enjoyed all the more.
